Henri Schlesinger was a painter of portraits and genre subjects. He was born in Frankfurt and later became a naturalized Frenchman, dying in Neuilly-on-Seine in 1893. He was a pupil at the Viennese Academy and exhibited at the Salons. He won a bronze medal, a silver medal and was bestowed with the Legion of Honor. He was a leading member of the Society of French Artists. Paintings of his hang in the Vienna and Versailles museums.
