Liu Chenyang graduated from Guangxi Arts Institute in 2011 and in 2012 she was invited to have a solo show at Muma Art Space in Guangzhou, China. In 2011 she was part of a group show of emerging Chinese artists at Soemo Fine Arts in Beijing. She cites Alex Katz as one of her influences. One of her main interests in her paintings is to capture a sense of being alone as a woman, either comfortably so or in a state of passive ennui.
